CTV news: Raising funds to end violence against women

People in Saskatoon rallied together on Saturday to help put an end to violence against women.

The Canadian Women’s Foundation’s Move for Hope event kicked off a month long campaign to end domestic violence. CTV’s Jennifer Jellicoe was master of ceremonies and a fitness instructor lead the crowd in a hour-long workout.

The day raised $5,000 to support violence prevention programs and women’s shelters.

Hill said on average, a woman is murdered by a current or former partner every six days in Canada. “So it’s an ongoing issue,” she said.

Saskatoon was just one of many cities across north America that participated in the event. Over $200,000 was raised nationally.
